The Informals II is an audiovisual installation documenting the lives of the Brighton’s music youth subcultures, created by artists Polina Medvedeva (RU/NL) and Andreas Kühne (NL) in collaboration with local musicians. The installation features multi-screen visuals and spatial audio to present an immersive and affecting experience. It features an innovative use of sound diffusion, with loudspeakers positioned at specific angles to limit their range, which in turn encourages exploration of the space. Multiple narratives are spun simultaneously, battling for attention against each other and the heavy soundtrack of skittering beats and pounding sub bass. A performance is scheduled for 15th July, taking place at Jubilee Square, where the artists will present a live-scored and live-edited version of the work.
